John Dunagan Obituary

John L. Dunagan, age 73, of Wabasha, died Thursday, February 9, 2012, at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha.  He was born January 21, 1939, in Rochester, the son of James and Marguerite (Brossard) Dunagan.  He graduated from Lourdes High School in Rochester and then attended atrade school.  He then served in the U.S. Army.  He returned to Rochester following his years in the service and worked as an interior electrical installer for Western Electric which later became AT&T.  He married DeLoris Hofschulte June 11, 1966, at St. Clements Catholic Church in Hammond.  The family moved to Wabasha in 1981.  John retired from AT&T in 1993 and then drove school bus for Schmit Bus Service for eight years.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg.  He was also a member of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50.  He enjoyed snowmobiling, playing cards and boating.  He also loved driving his Corvette.  In his earlier years he enjoyed stock car racing.

John is survived by his wife, DeLoris Dunagan, Wabasha, MN; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Dunagan, Rochester, MN, Jay and Lori Dunagan, Wabasha, MN, Kevin Dunagan and friend, Diane Southwick, Kasson, MN, Boyd Dunagan, Wabasha, MN; five grandchildren, Brandon, Amberlee and Austin Dunagan, Adam Dunagan, and Olivia Dunagan; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Melvin Meyers, Plainview, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene.

A memorial Mass will be offered on Monday, February 13, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Reverend Thomas Cook officiating.  Interment will be in St. Felix Cemetery.  Military rites will be performed by the Wabasha American Legion and Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Posts.  Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Sunday from 4-8pm where there will be a prayer service at 8pm and they may call at the church on Monday one hour before the service.  The Abbott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  www.abbottfh.com

I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. I hope everyone is coping well and doing their best to get through this trying and sorrow filled time.
