Jean C. Belter, age 87, of Kellogg, died Tuesday evening, March 27, 2012 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. She was born August 26, 1924 in Altura, the daughter of Anthony and Leona (Kieffer) Marmsoler. She graduated from Lewiston High School and then attended Minneapolis Business College for one year. She married Ervin Belter March 13, 1945 in Altura. Prior to her marriage and after marriage she worked for the Altura Elevator Company. In 1950 the family moved to Kellogg where Ervin farmed. She helped her husband with the farm work and she also kept the books for several years for the Bill Knabe Ford Dealership in Kellogg.
Jean was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg and its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a life member of the Kellogg American Legion Post #546 Auxiliary and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 Auxiliary of Wabasha. She enjoyed playing cards, antiques and doing her bookwork.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Cheryl Belter, Rochester, MN; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Roger Vogt, Spivey, KS, Judy and David Hass, Chatfield, MN, Nancy and Cory LaRocque, Apple Valley, MN, Debbie and Craig, Davis, Goodview, MN, Tammy and Keith Hubbard, Cottage Grove, MN; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Gervae Marmsoler, LaCrescent, MN; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin, who died July 29, 2004, and one brother, Clyde Marmsoler.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg with the Reverend Thomas Cook officiating. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9am until the time of service.
