Mary E. Blair, age 80, of Wabasha, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Nursing Home in Wabasha.  She was born May 27, 1932 in New Albin, IA, the daughter of Stanley and Theresa (Dennis) Buege.  She was a graduate of New Albin High School.  She married Robert Blair October 25, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin.  Mary was a homemaker and her husband worked for the U. S. Postal Service, retiring as postmaster in Wabasha in 1991.  He died January 11, 2005.

She was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliaries of Wabasha and Brownsville, MN.  In her earlier years she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and bowling.  Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, meant everything to her.

Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Yoko Blair, Bessemer, AL, Cheryl and Bob Bauer, Nelson, WI, Michael and JoAnn Blair, Lake City, MN, Brian and Maxine Blair, La Crescent, MN, Ann and Don Pfeilsticker, Wabasha, MN, James Blair, Stephen, MN, Mary and Tom Hoeft, Byron, MN, Laura and Jon Schmoker, Kellogg, MN, Karri Blair (Rami McGee), Zumbrota, MN; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Gretchen) Buege, Caledonia, MN, Robert (Joanne) Buege, Caledonia, MN; sister, Marcella Althof, Stoddard, WI; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, one grandson, one granddaughter, one brother and two sisters.

A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Reverend Thomas Cook officiating.  Interment will be in Veterans Cemetery in Brownsville, MN.  Casket bearers will be Nicholas Pretzer, Cody Blair, Shane Blair, Philip Pfeilsticker, James Blair and Byron Schmoker.  Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Thursday from 4-8pm where there will be a prayer service at 8pm and at the church on Friday one hour before the service.

We just heard about Mae! Oh, my gosh, we are so so sorry to hear that she has passed away. Please know all of you are in our prayers! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. When your Mom was in Caledonia in June for Paige Langen's graduation party it was so nice to visit with her. Your memories will help you heal---I can still hear your mom's laugh when I think of her. Take care.
