Deloris Mae Sheehan, age 82, of rural Kellogg, died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha surrounded by her loving family after a courageous four and ½ year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born January 29, 1936 in East Grand Forks, MN, the daughter of Alonzo and Pearl (Johnson) Jerome. She married Thomas Sheehan July 3, 1954 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester. Together they farmed their entire lives first on Oak Ridge and later at Snake Creek in rural Kellogg. In addition to helping farm and being a homemaker Deloris also worked 17 years as a cook for the Wabasha-Kellogg School District and St. Felix Catholic School both in Wabasha. Tom died April 2, 2014.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg and an active member of its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Kellogg American Legion Post #546 Auxiliary. Deloris was an avid card player. She also loved bowling, watching and feeding the birds, and sewing. In her earlier years she was active with the Boy Scouts and 4-H. Most important to Deloris was spending time with her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deloris is survived by children and spouses, Bernie and Karen Sheehan, Kellogg, MN, John Sheehan, Venice, FL, James and Mary Ann Sheehan, Plainview, MN, Kathy and Jeff Fosmo, Kellogg, MN; ten grandchildren, Greg (Kathy) Sheehan, Marie Sheehan (Adonye), Danny Sheehan (Ashley), Brian (Laura) Sheehan, Crystal (Bryant) Mueller, Katie Sheehan, Eric (Tracy) Fosmo, Ashley (Luke) Payne, Sara (Jamil) Stamschror-Lott, and Justin (Kate) Stamschror; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth (Vicky) Jerome, Kelso, WA, Richard (Kay) Schones, Rochester, MN, Sharon (Mike) Lippert, Wilmar, MN, Gloria Schones, Rochester, MN; sister-in-law, Doreen (Bud) Luther, Cambridge, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, sister, Caroline Matz, and her parents.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg with the Reverend Fathers Gregory Parrott and Patrick Arens and Deacon John Hust officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minneiska. Casket bearers will be Greg, Danny, and Brian Sheehan, Eric Fosmo, Luke Payne and Adoyne Afonya. Family and friends may call at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Wednesday from 4-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm and they may call at the church on Thursday one hour before the Mass.
