Elvera K. Schroeder, age 95, a lifelong resident of Wabasha, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha. She was born September 14, 1922 in Wabasha, the daughter of Nicholas and Clara (Graff) Kirsch. She was a graduate of Wabasha High School. She was united in marriage to Robert ‘Dutch’ Schroeder October 13, 1947 in St. Paul. Dutch worked many years as an electrician at International Multi-Foods flour mill in Wabasha and Elvera was a homemaker. He died December 21, 1994.
Elvera was an active member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Wabasha and its Women’s Guild. Her church was a very important part of her life.
She is survived by two nephews and their wives, Vernon ‘Jim’ and Bonny Hewitt, Elk River, MN, David and Pat Hewitt, Golden Valley, MN. She is also survived by her special friend and caregiver, Dana Schurhammer, Wabasha, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dutch, and sister and brother-in-law, Avalin and Vernon Hewitt.
In accordance with her wishes, her remains will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery beside her husband. No formal service will be held. Memorials are preferred to Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 205 3rd St. E., Wabasha, MN 55981.
