Marvin B. Hoffman, age 80, of Wabasha, formerly of Kellogg, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Marys Campus in Rochester. He was born August 12, 1937 in Lake City, the son of John and Clara (Shones) Hoffman. He served in the U. S. Army from 1954-1956. Marvin worked as a truck driver for several businesses, working out of Winona, Rochester and Wabasha. He later started, owned and operated Hoffman Rubbish Removal in Kellogg. He sold the business to his son, Dale, several years later. He married Sally Kruger November 14, 1963 in Wabasha. Sally died November 24, 2001.
Marvin was a member of Weaver United Methodist Church. He was also a life member of the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 and a member of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with his many friends and he was an avid Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Shelly Hoffman, Kellogg, MN; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Tom Johnson, Wabasha, MN, Pam and Mike Koopman, Prior Lake, MN; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ernie Gusa, Kellogg, MN; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, parents, John and Clara, and ten brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 1:30pm at the Kellogg United Methodist Church with the Reverend Cheryl Nymann officiating. Interment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery in rural Kellogg. Military rites will be provided by the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW and Wabasha American Legion Posts and the MNARNG Honor Guard. Family and friends may call at the church on Sunday one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to St. Elizabeth’s Community Development Foundation, 1200 5th Grant Blvd. W., Wabasha, MN 55981.
