Raymond A. Schively

February 20, 1938 ~ August 31, 2019 (age 81)

Raymond A. Schively, 81 of Wabasha, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

Raymond Andrew was born February 20, 1938, in Wabasha, MN to Frederick and Margaret (Stachowitz) Schively.  He graduated from St. Felix High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.  On June 25, 1960, he married Margaret Greive at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha.  Together they raised five children: Pamela, Laura, Brenda, James, and William.

While serving in the military at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Ray worked as a printer and continued this occupation with Hiawatha Design, Lake City, and Valley Publications, Wabasha.  He enjoyed being outdoors fishing and riding his motorcycle, and designing the layout of his model railroad trains. He loved to spend time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Margaret; five children: Pamela Schively, Laura (Terry) Timm, Brenda Jacob, James (Becky) Schively, and William (Charlotte) Schively; 11 grandchildren:  Trevor Timm, Travis Timm, Andrew Jacob, Matthew Jacob, Thomas (Katelyn) Jacob, Miranda (Pete) Dienger, Benjamin Jacob, Alicia (Joe) Fliflet, Hanna Schively, Michael Schively, and Alexanne Schively; six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Barb Schively and Charlotte Schively; brother-in law, Chuck (Millie) Greive; sisters-in-law, Gerri (Rusty) Knippel and Dorla (Ron) Tam; many nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Rosemary Gleiter; four brothers: Gerald, Frank, Francis, and Sylvester; brother-in-law, Ed Gleiter; and sister-in-law Trudi Schively.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha, with Pastor Jamie Olcott of Anchor Point Church officiating.  Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha.  Military rites will be performed by the Wabasha American Legion Post #50, the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 and the MNARNG Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, at Abbott Funeral Home and beginning at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
