Harold G. Emmons, Jr., 84 of Winona, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020, at his home.
Harold George was born July 7, 1935, in Winona County, MN to Harold Sr. and Helen (Boettcher) Emmons. He met the love of his life on a blind date at a dance in Kellogg, MN. On May 12, 1956, he married Mary J. Hanson at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha and together they raised five children.
Harold served in the US Army Reserves with the 544th Battalion and was honorably discharged. He was formerly employed by Springdale Dairy and Hogenson Construction. After retiring in 1988, he loved to be with his family, going fishing, camping and spending time on his daughter’s farm.
He was a member of the Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post 9, Winona.
He is survived by four children: Jeffrey Emmons, Winona; Jacquelyn Wodele, Wabasha; Patricia (Gary) Dare, Winona; and Scott (Josephine) Emmons, Nelson, WI; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roger (Kay) Emmons and Rolland (Lana) Emmons; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; a son Michael Emmons; son-in-law, Joseph Wodele; four sisters: Betty Clark; Geraldine Smith; Donna Hutchison; Lois Schacht.
Private family services were held. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
