Marvin L. Britton, age 81, of Wabasha, died Thursday, March 5, 2020 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha.  He was born December 27, 1938 in Gilmanton, WI, the son of Elwood and Lois (Hartman) Britton.  He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Lake City.  Marv then served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy for three years and then enlisted in the U. S. Air Force.  He served in the two branches from 1956-1979.  He was united in marriage to Della Good and she died in 1979.  Marv was an active member of the community.  He worked as a bartender at the Wabasha American Legion Club and at the Coffee Mill Golf Club.  Marv was also a past member of the Wabasha City Council.  He was a life member of the Wabasha American Legion and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW.

Marv is survived by daughter and son-in-law. Anita and Hank Moorman, Blaine, MN; grandson, Jake Moorman; granddaughter, Shannon (Luke) Chase; three great-grandchildren, Vince, Everett and Harvey Chase; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elwood “Dick” and Joan Britton, David and Judy Britton and Gary Britton; sisters and brother-in-law, Kathy and Bill Latocki and Marlene “Sis” Smutney.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Della, his parents, Elwood and Lois, and brother, Roger Britton.

A memorial service will be held on a future date at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with the Reverend James Clausen officiating.  Interment will be at Alma Cemetery in Alma, WI.  Military rites will be provided by members of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50, the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 and the MNARNG Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, Marv had asked that memorials be given to the Star of Hope program which benefits needy children in the area: Star of Hope 145 2nd St. W., Wabasha, MN  55981.
