Richard C. ‘Dick’ Klein, age 70, of Lake City, formerly of Kellogg and Wabasha, died of natural causes Friday, March 9, 2018 at his home. He was born July 19, 1947 in Lake City, the son of Victor and Elinor (Timmsen) Klein. He was a graduate of Wabasha High School. He then served his country in the mid-1960’s in the U. S. Marine Corps. He married Vicky Bauer November 10, 1969 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg. Dick worked at Lakeside Foods in Plainview. He also had a wholesale business selling produce to area vendors. He later worked several years driving school bus for Jim Schurhammer Busing in Kellogg. He and Vicky moved to Lake City in 2016.
Dick is survived by wife, Vicky Klein, Lake City, MN; children and spouses, Michelle and Olaomopo Saka, Wabasha, MN, Pam and Chris Froemming, Wabasha, MN, Rich and Cari Klein, Red Wing, MN, Curt and Lori Klein, Zumbrota, MN, Derek Klein, Stewartville, MN; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Klein, Plainview, MN; brother, David Klein, Wabasha, MN; brother-in-law, Rich Schuth, Wabasha, MN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved canine companion, Blanca. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Elinor Klein, sister, Victoria Schuth and brother, Bruce Klein.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 6pm at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with Deacon John Hust officiating. Interment will follow at St Agnes Cemetery in Kellogg. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3pm until the time of service.
